Mainline test run was undertaken which was successful and resulted in 55 022 obtaining its mainline certification.Speeds of over 100 mph were attained in both directions. The test ran from Barrow Hill at approximately 12.00, heading North via Rotherham and Moorethorpe to York. After detatching 55 002 & 47 703 at Holgate sidings, 55 022 continued North up the East Coast Mainline to Heaton depot followed by 47 703 as standby. After running round at Heaton, Royal Scots Grey headed back South to York where 47 703 was attached to the rear of the train which then returned to Barrow Hill via Doncaster.
